Thornhill Community Church

Our Story

The founding Pastor, Ron Rooker was a Shantyman Missionary* called by the Lord to proclaim the gospel and teach His Word. Ron was stationed in the Terrace area and was discipling many people. He was asked if he would be willing to start a church and after much prayer and receiving affirmation from the Word and the Holy Spirit; Ron agreed to go forward in this ministry.

Church services were started in 1988 in Ron’s home, then services were moved to the Thornhill School and then the Thornhill Community Hall where we continued our outreach to the lost and offered discipleship training and preaching the word of God. We incorporated as a Society in June of 1989 and in 1999, land was donated to the church and we started building the present church which we moved into in May of 2000.

This Church was established to preach and teach the gospel of Jesus Christ, to heal the brokenhearted, to set the captives free and to uphold the truth of God’s Word.

*Shantymens’ Christian Associations was a Toronto Missionary organization formed in 1914 to organize missionaries to work among loggers, fishers and miners in isolated camps and settlements in Canada.
